Electronic site Arts cracked, gamers Data stolen



Electronic Arts has admitted burglary and theft of data on its website. This incident followed a series of attacks on company gaming.

As quoted by Reuters Saturday (06/25/2011), Electronic Arts (EA) recognises the user information stolen from their site. This includes birth dates, phone numbers and addresses.

However, EA said no credit card data or social security numbers stolen during the incident. Not also known as who is responsible for this attack.
Genesis on EA after a string of attacks on company gaming. Beginning with the attack on Sony's PlayStation Network and was followed by firms such as Sega and Bethesda.
EAS website burglarized at BioWare server in Canada. The site is associated with the game "neverwinter Nights".

"Our research shows information such as user names and encrypted passwords, e-mail address, mailing address, full name, telephone number, CD keys (game activation-red) and date of birth from the account on the server may have been exposed," said EA in the site.
It is quite alarming from intrusion is when there are users who use a combination of user names, passwords and/or the same e-mail address on other sites. The information gathered may be used to break into that user's account elsewhere.
